West Ridge is more than just a care center—we’re a community. As the family of one of our residents, we invite you to become a part of our community and take advantage of the activities and events that help keep you connected to your loved ones here at West Ridge.

By participating in our planned activities, you not only give your loved one your company, love and attention, you encourage them to pursue healthy, stimulating hobbies that are shown to keep the mind active longer. Join us this summer for the following events and activities:

Group Outings

Join our residents for one of our regular group outings. Next time, we’ll be heading to Tornadoes on June 14. Take the opportunity to spend time with your loved one and get to know some of the West Ridge staff, as well as their fellow residents. Contact Julie Winterboer at least one day before to RSVP, (319) 390-3367.

Ask About Our Garden

This year we’re planting tomatoes, cucumbers and herbs in our garden boxes. If your loved one likes to garden, have them show you around and check out our progress. Some of our elders are expert gardeners—take a moment to ask them about the techniques and methods they use and seize the opportunity to learn something new.

Be Creative

Cork n Canvas is a casual group painting lesson and a fun way for our Elders and their guests to express their artistic side. All skill levels are welcome—come paint with us over a glass of wine and good conversation. The next Cork n Canvas is scheduled for June 20. Contact Julie Winterboer at least one day before to RSVP, (319) 390-3367.

Get Musical

Visiting musicians and school ensembles often perform at West Ridge. It’s a great excuse to get up and dance, or sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds. Our next performer, Carroll Brown, will perform at 2PM on June 8.

Men’s Picnic

We will host a special picnic in celebration of Father’s Day, open to all our male residents and their sons, grandsons, brothers and nephews. Join us June 22 at 5PM and share your favorite stories, remember good times and create new memories in the process!

Are you considering relocating yourself or a loved one to a long-term care community like West Ridge? We’d love to show you around and introduce you to our staff and residents. Join us at our next event or schedule a private tour of our facilities. Click here to plan your visit.
